Update the Theme using Envato Market Plugin

Install the Plugin

The Envato Market WordPress Plugin makes it easy for Theme & Plugin authors to deliver updates to their customers.  This plugin can be installed during manual theme installation process – you can check it in the plugins list. Or you can install and activate it after one-click theme installation from the WordPress dashboard, there will be a notice about recommended plugins.

The plugin Settings Page allows you to configure your Envato API Personal Token. This API Token is generated from build.envato.com and will allow WordPress to securely receive item updates.

To generate your Global OAuth Personal Token click on the link and login using your Envato Market login details.
Please copy & paste your unique token into the Envato settings inside your WordPress dashboard and click on “Save Changes”.

Once the Envato API connection is made from the Settings page, a list of available Themes will be shown. This will list all WordPress Themes that have been purchased through the Envato Market / ThemeForest. Any available theme updates can be applied here.

Update the theme manually

Update the theme via WordPress Admin Panel

The latest theme version is available for download on Themeforest in your Downloads tab.  To update the theme please do the following:

  1. Download the zip-archive with all files on your computer and unzip it. There’s a simple “your-theme-name.zip” folder within the main archive that should be uploaded. 
  2. In your WordPress dashboard go to Appearance > Themes.
  3. Upload the new version of the theme – click on the ”Add New” > “Upload Theme” and choose the“your-theme-name.zip” archive from your computer. 

Update the theme via FTP client

The latest theme version is available for download on Themeforest in your Downloads tab.  To update the theme please do the following:

  1. Download the zip-archive with the theme on your computer and unzip it.  
  2. Proceed to wp-content/themes/ folder and rename the current theme. For example, you can name the theme folder “theme-name-old”, in such a case this theme version will be backed up at your server. You can remove it later in case if you do not need the backup.
  3. Upload the new theme version on your server (please make sure there are no nested folders such as theme-name/theme-name).
